AutomatomaniA, also known as "The House of Automata" is a gothic stone workshop and store rooms on the beautiful Altyre Estate near Forres in Scotland. Michael and Maria Start are professional automata restorers who are dedicated to promoting knowledge of the subject and inspiring new makers.
The large collection spans 300 years of automata many of which are rare and delicate. The hour long tour will include performances of the working pieces and a full expose of the anatomy of mechanical life, from a ship the size of a fingernail to the glamorous Nancy, a larger than life lady automaton.
